More Random Observations

I've decided not to do OCI this year. Why? Only 1 firm here in town is even accepting applications from 3Ls, and I know I don't want to work there. Also, they've introduced a new "uploading" process for the applications, and it sounds much to glitchy (is that a word?) for me. So, thanks Career Services, I guess we're on our own as usual. I am applying for several judicial clerkships here in town though, so send good thoughts!

I've started going to the gym. Well, the city rec center, anyway. They have an indoor track that I've been walking around. They also have some gym equipment, but you have to attend a class there to be certified on the equipment, and I haven't managed to do that yet. The indoor track is nice though: it overlooks the basketball courts, and there are windows all around with nice mountain views. Most of the other walkers are much older than me, so I feel quite young and spry. I decided I needed something to deal with stress, especially looking forward to the bar next summer.

A political comment

I know I'm not usually political on this blog, but I couldn't let this one get by. Donald Rumsfeld is accusing dissenters of moral confusion? Give me a break. However, Keith Olbermann says it better than I could: Here's his comments from last night's Countdown.

Blogger Beta

You might notice I switched to Blogger Beta, and updated my template. I should update my blogroll as well, so if you read this blog and aren't on the list, please comment and remind me, especially if you have me linked from your site. I've lost track of the reciprocal links.

In which I join the 21st century

We finally got cable internet installed today. Hooray! My mom was tired of me tying up the phone line on dialup. Honestly, I don't know how we managed this long with only one phone line and dial up on both computers.

School is going fine - most people I ducked the "how was your summer?" question, and those I did tell were very supportive. I'm grateful to those who commented on the prior post - your support means a lot to me as well.

Back to School

So I'm blogging from the school library, trying to decide if I'm more excited or nervous about school starting. It felt good to get ready, get on the bus and go to school. Even the familiar weight of my backpack felt good - felt normal. Yet I'm afraid to talk to my friends, especially the ones who don't know about my summer, becuase of the inevitable question: "How was your summer?" I think for some, I will lie by omission, and just ask about their summer. But for others, I have to tell the bad news, and then feel bad because of course they had no idea when they asked such an innocent question. It's going to be a long day.
