New Blog

I feel ready to unveil my new blog to you all. I plan to focus on book reviews, but will probably also talk about TV, movies and whatever else strikes my fancy. I doubt very much I will focus much on law or law-related things, but who knows about the future? I will probably still post occasionally here, and I will post the bar results here in October, but feel free to visit me in the new place:

So Many Book Reviews

It is still anonymous, but my handle has changed.

Enjoy!

First Week

I survived my first week of work. The first day was crazy, but I think I'm starting to get the hang of it. The other people at the court are great, the cases are interesting, and my boss is very supportive. Next week I'll get to start on research, as well as see some more hearings. I forgot how tiring the first few days can be - trying to remember everyone's names, and finding my way around the building took all of my concentration. I am enjoying it, and I know once I learn who everyone is and where everything is things will be run more smoothly.

Orientation

Well, I did all of the new employee paperwork yesterday, and came home with a giant pile of brochures and a big binder labeled "Employee Manual." The HR people seem really nice. I start work Monday, but have my "New Employee Orientation" on Friday all day, which counts for our continuing education/ethics/sexual harrassment training, so that should be fun. Plus I have to be First Aid and CPR certified; the classes for that are later in the month. Three years of jeans and t-shirts has really affected my wardrobe. I called the secretary there to find out the unofficial dress code, so I think I'll be presentable. She said no suits, but I'm bringing a jacket for the first day just in case.

I know a lot of you are still looking for a job: good luck, and don't let them get you down. The job market is pretty rough, I know.
