Rest in Peace

I'm so tired of telling people bad news. My dad passed away last night. I'll spare you the details, but I will tell you we are learning the intricacies of the procedures involved in bringing a body back from overseas. Thank you for all of your positive thoughts and prayers - your support means a lot to me.

More of the Same

I thought I should update, even though not much has changed with my dad. He's having seizures and they aren't yet able to control them with medication. He's still not stable enough to move, so they can't fly him back here yet, so my mom and brother are still there too.

I'm finding my two jobs stressful, too - I'm still learning what is expected of me, and I still don't feel like I know any actual law.

Update

Thank you all for your positive thoughts and kind words. My dad is doing better - he's out of ICU, not on a ventilator, and can move his arms and legs. He keeps trying to get out of bed. He's trying to talk, but can't be understood. My brother got there today, so my mom is doing much better, too. I can't imagine being away from home all alone and dealing with this. The tour company has been great, too - they arranged for someone to meet my brother at the airport, put him on the train to Plymouth, and then had a car meet him at the station there to take him to the hotel. Thankfully my parents bought trip insurance, so all of this extra expense will be covered. Anyway, keep up the positive thoughts - thanks for your support and I'll keep you updated.

Circle the wagons

I just got a phone call from my mother. She and my dad are on a tour of England. She was calling from the hospital - my dad had a stroke. He's on a ventilator, and not responding. I don't even have a passport, so I can't just go over there. My brother does have one, so he is on his way later tonight, but still won't get there for over a day. I hardly know what to do with myself. So positive thoughts and prayers if you are so inclined. I'll post more when I can.

Finished!

I took my last final as a 2L today - yay! So now I have a few days off before I start work. I can't believe how quickly these two years have passed - and that it's only one year until graduation.

My plans for my days off are to watch movies: I did watch Memoirs of a Geisha (courtesy of Netflix) already, and I expect Battlestar Galactica: the Miniseries in my mailbox today or tomorrow. Memoirs was passable, but not nearly as good as it could have been, and not as good as the book. If you've read the book, don't bother with the movie, and if you haven't read the book - go read it!

Thanks to LQ for the suggestions for movies/TV - I love Alias, and have been watching it since the beginning, but I'm probably going to get the DVDs to watch it all again anyway.

Good luck to anyone still taking finals!

Movies

I'm supposed to be studying for my crim law exam, so naturally I just signed up for Netflix. It's been ages since I've been to the movies, so I have lots of DVDs to catch up on. And did you know they have all of the TV DVD sets, too? So I'm opening the floor to movie recommendations? For after finals, of course. Hahahaha.
