Blogroll and a request

Can you tell I'm procrastinating working on the open motion that is due on Friday? I updated my blogroll to reflect some people that have linked to me or have put me on their blogroll. Let me know if I've missed anyone.

And on the subject of requests - any advice on 2nd year course planning? We get to register soon, and I'm trying to plan my schedule. Anyone have opinions on taking "core courses" or "bar courses" or choosing by professor, or choosing by interest, or choosing based on having Fridays free? Let me know in the comments or at sdecisis - at- gmail.com. Thanks!

Begging the Question

I'm a few days late, but here are the Friday Five from Begging the Question:

1. Who is an author whose work you've never read, but want to?

Probably most of the "required reading" from high school - Dickens, Dostoyevsky, Joyce.

2. Can men and women be friends?

Yes.

3. If you could choose to live in a different time period, would you? If so, when would you live and why?

I'm not sure about staying in another time period, but it would be fun to visit:
Jane Austen era England
1920's America - before the Great Depression

4. Have you ever sold anything, bought anything, or processed anything as a career? Have you ever sold anything bought or processed, or bought anything sold or processed, or repaired anything sold, bought, or processed, as a career?

More times than I care to think about - sold dog training products, air distribution products (grilles and registers), books at Barnes and Noble, pizza at Pizza Hut, clothes at a major department store. I don't think of those as a career, though - now I'm going to be a lawyer!!!!!

5. They're going to make a movie about your life. What's the theme song?

Something loud from Garbage.

Break's Over

So Spring Break is over. I'm feeling a little guilty for not getting more done. Or at least not having more fun. I did some homework earlier in the week, but then haven't done much since then but watch basketball and read magazines. Maybe I'm burnt out?

This does not bode well

It does not bode well for my understanding about future interests and life estates and the rule against perpetuities that our PROFESSOR keeps getting confused in class. About her OWN hypotheticals. On one point, she finally said she would accept (pretty much) any answer for the exam. So someone in my class said, "Will you tell the people who grade the bar exam?"

What does it take to get a check-plus?

We got our research assignments back today. The possible "grades" (not actually worth any points) were a check, a check-plus, or a "re-do." All of mine were checks - what do you have to do to get a check-plus? All of my answers were complete - maybe because I didn't type them? Whatever. Today was our last research class, anyway - hooray! Our Monday afternoons are "free" again, and that is one less weekly assigment to do.

Sorting Hat

Gryffindor
You are a Gryffindor!!! A little wild and crazy,
you definitely are daring and a little out
there. You are a perpetual trouble-maker and
are more likely to get caught doing something
wrong even if you weren't there when it
happened. It's amazing the stunts you've pulled
haven't gotten you killed...yet.

Home sweet home

I blogged before about my mom's retirement party. As part of my parents' retirement plans, they have been planning to sell the house they have lived in for 25+ years - where all of us kids grew up. This is all fine in theory: it's a big house, much too big for just the two of them, they can move here and be close to the grandkids (my sister and brother both have kids). The reality, however, is different. They put the house on the market yesterday. It's strange to think of other people buying it - my parents had it built! And having them here in town will be different, too. They were only about an hour away before, but we still only saw them every other weekend or so. So our schedules will have to change - maybe I'm not that flexible? But, there is the benefit of home cooking.... that may outweigh the rest. Comments?
